To use secure FTP (SFTP) software on a PC, we recommend CoreFTP

For a Mac, we like Cyberduck

Both of these support the secure FTP port 22 using SSH to encrypt data in transit.

When using, be sure to click the box that says “SFTP” which accesses the secure port 22.

OLI’s Secure FTP Hosting clients also have access to an SSL web-based FTP, or Web-FTP.

No changes are needed to your FTP folders to use secure ftp, you simply use one of the above methods to access them.

By default, only the admins can embed YouTube video code. There is a way to allow regular forum members to post Youtube videos, see bottom of this posting.  While logged in as admin, you can embed the code for video (like the code you’d get from youtube.com if you uploaded your video there) like this:

To allow regular members to post youtube video, you can add the YouTube BBCCode Mod.

To post a picture or upload a file to your message in Simple Machines Forums, you click “Additional Options” when posting a new message (beneath the big text box where you type your message) and upload a graphic or other file attachment.

It’s easy to decompress a file compressed that was compressed within Web-FTP after downloading multiple files.

For PCs: When Web-FTP tars all the files, you can decompress using this free third-party application:

click the “Get ZipGenius” link and then the download graphic next to “Direct download from this server”

For Macs: Most Macs have built-in software (Archive Utility)  that will decompress a tar file by simply double-clicking it.
